School dropouts gain hope through Beep programme

The Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training continues to collaborate with UNESCO on the 4 year Basic Education Equivalency Programme (BEEP) (2020-2023), that was launched in February of 2019 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The BEEP programme has so far, brought benefits to more than 2000 school dropouts across 15 provinces in the country and thus there has been to calls for an expansion after a successful first year of implementation.
As a joint initiative, the programme was implemented to provide a flexible and alternative route to lower secondary education or basic education equivalent to that of grade 9 for out-of-school youths.
Ros Soveacha, the Secretary General spokesman for MoE Accreditation Committee highlighted the plans set out to expand the programme to number of community learning centres in the capital and 14 other provinces within the kingdom. The expansion was set as there was in increase in demand for access from dropouts since the implementation of the programme.
