1st RECOTVET Regional Policy Dialogue on TVET Personnel
About the Event
The regional programme RECOTVET (“Regional Cooperation Programme to Improve the Training of TVET Personnel”) based in Hanoi (Viet Nam) is commissioned by Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). It aims at supporting and creating personnel, institutional and thematic preconditions for quality improvement and regional harmonisation of the education and training of TVET personnel in South East Asia over the next years. The intensification of regional cooperation between executive and professional staff from across the ASEAN region concerned with TVET will make national TVET systems more effective and TVET quality regionally comparable. RECOTVET thereby enhances regional labour mobility ultimately contributing to a vibrant and sustainable Economic Community as envisioned in AEC 2015.
International network formats such as conferences, dialogue forums and seminars promote regional exchange, policy dialogue and cooperation between decision-makers as well as GIZ’s current bilateral vocational education programmes in Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Viet Nam.
The RECOTVET Regional Policy Dialogue on TVET personnel directed towards senior national and regional policy-makers. Participants from ministries (senior officials from Ministries of Education and Ministries of Labour) of ASEAN member states as well as relevant regional stakeholder from the ASEAN Secretariat (Education, Youth & Training Division and Social Welfare, Women, Labour & Migrant Division), SEAMEO, UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok, RCP and actors from German development cooperation, including TVET-experts from Germany joined the event.
The RECOTVET Regional Policy Dialogues aimes at:
- Promoting expert exchange between relevant bilateral and regional partners with actors from German development cooperation and lays the foundation for future cooperation.
- Introducing the objective, methods and ideas of RECOTVET to partner organisations.
- Building the basis for technical dialogue, establishing working groups on topics regarding TVET personnel and agreeing on future milestones and next steps
