REGIONAL PILOT TRAINING ON QUALITY IN TVET
About the Event
Overview
The ASEAN work plan on education 2016-2020 addresses the regional harmonization and quality improvement in TVET as a strategy to support the development of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the region. To support the implementation of this strategy, RECOTVET programme has been working with representatives of the ASEAN member states to develop regional in-service training modules on quality assurance and quality development (QA & QD). These training modules focus on two areas namely 1) Quality and quality assurance in TVET centres; 2) Teachers and managers as supporters of TVET QA/QD. The pilot training for this module takes place in Bangkok from 11-15 March 2019. Participants attending the pilot training are mostly teachers and managers representing the TVET centres from across the ASEAN region.
Objective
Overall, the objective of the training is to improve the capacity of TVET personnel on QA and QD in TVET. This includes the exposure and better understanding to various strategies, approaches and models used to ensure and improve the management of quality in TVET institutions with the focus on education and training. Furthermore, the training aims at facilitating mutual learning on QA through exchange of experiences and sharing of ideas on QA & QD practices among the participants.
Expected output and outcome
Output: At least 30 TVET personnel consisting of teachers and managers from the selected TVET centres in the ASEAN region attending the pilot training will get their knowledge on QA and QD in TVET upgraded. They will also be better equipped with practical knowledge to work on assuring and developing quality in TVET.
Outcome: Improved practical knowledge and strengthened capacity to address the gaps and challenges on QA and QD in TVET delivery, including better ability to set up and/or enhance the QA system at TVET institutions.
