CALL FOR ACTION! ASEAN youth survey on digital literacy

An ASEAN youth survey on digital literacy is currently being conducted by UNICEF!

A central element of the skills a child requires for school, work and life is increasingly being recognised as digital literacy. This is the knowledge and skills that allow children and young people to be safe and empowered in the digital world.

COVID-19 has highlighted inequalities in access to schools, learning outcomes and digital connectivity. This can cause serious effects to the way young people are learning and developing. It will also create a set back from decent work and life in the digital word by hindering them from future opportunities.

The survey by UNICEF will therefore be used to gather inputs from young people across the region. It will help to reflect, respond, 'build back better' education, bridge the digital divide and keep children learning, no matter where they are.

The report, from the survey will provide an insight into the current challenges and opportunities facing education systems when it comes to digital literacy. It will also provide the perspective from young people on the ways forward for digital education. It will help close the digital divide for every child throughout ASEAN now and going forward.

UNICEF will be collecting responses from adolescents and young people who are of school-age (10-24 year olds)

The responses will be analysed and presented in the UNICEF-ASEAN dialogue on "Digital Transformation of the Education System throughout ASEANheld in October 2020.

The survey can be taken in the following languages: English, Filipino, Indonesian, Khmer, Lao, Malay, Thai and Vietnamese.

The survey is open until the 20th of September 11:59pm (GMT+7:00).
