Morobe Province Ties Education Partnership with Indonesia

The Morobe Provincial Government Education Department will be the first division in the country to benefit from its education partnership program with the government of Indonesia.

Yesterday was significant as the education sector of the province including various schools welcomed Ambassador of Indonesia and Education and Culture Attaché, Achmad Tavip Syah to Lae.

Mr Syah said the purpose of his visit was to strengthen the partnership agreement between the Government of Indonesia and Morobe Province to develop the Technical, Vocational Education Training (TVET) in the province.

Provincial Education Minister Andrew Gena and education advisor Keith Jiram said the partnership with Indonesia is aimed to increase opportunities for the province.

“We are now on the launching pad to work with in partnership with the government of Indonesia to develop the education sector of Morobe Province,” the leaders said.

Meanwhile, Mr Syah said the partnership will provide relevant practical trainings, attitudes, knowledge and understanding relating to the skills needed in TVET to improve education standard and create more opportunities for economic growth of the province.

He said Indonesia will be providing support based on its wide range of technical education experience and will be training teachers to teach the right skills for the growth of TEVT in the province.

“The extension of this training and short apprenticeship courses for all provincial TVET trainers will be conducted in Indonesia where teachers and even students will be attending to learn and experience.

“Our aim is to provide as much as we can to equip all TEVT trainers in the province so that when they return, they will be in a better position to provide further teaching opportunities for their students” said Mr Syah.

The ambassador also said Indonesia’s technical vocational institutions are of high standard and courses are developed in close consultation with latest economical demands.

He said the first consultation workshop for his visit will be held where he will be going into formal discussions with the education department of the province.
